A Message to our Community
Last year was not short of challenges. Four billion people still lacked access to basic care, while funding shocks, global uncertainty, and the rapid evolution of AI required us to adapt, innovate, and keep the Community Health Toolkit (CHT) at the pinnacle of excellence.
And yet, we held the line. We grounded in what has always stayed true: our values of humanity, solidarity, and openness.
We saw an opportunity to challenge the status quo. We reimagined how care is delivered, how the technology behind it is built, and how ownership shifts to the frontlines of care.
We came together as a global community. We welcomed 262 new members to the CHT Community of Practice, to solve shared challenges and build on decades of digital health progress.
We recognized that the CHT needs to be ready for whatever comes next. We began exploring AI and emerging technologies to make the platform even smarter, more connected, and more accessible.
We saw that sustainable scale comes from an entire ecosystem. We deepened local capacity, reduced dependency, and built solutions that are homegrown, context-driven, and built to last.
By the end of 2025, the CHT supported 182,636 community health workers (CHWs) across 24 countries, reaching an estimated 90 million people. Enhancing critical services at the doorstep. Identifying diseases, monitoring pregnancies, and following up with at-risk cases. And making CHWs feel more recognized and respected for their work.
These aren’t just statistics. Each number represents a critical, often life-saving, moment of care.
Thank you to the Medic team, who show up every day with kindness and care. To the community health workers at the heart of everything we do. To our supporters, who share our vision of building open and locally-owned health systems that serve everyone. And to the CHT Community, who are helping to make that vision a reality.
