Medic is thrilled to welcome Robert Mutai as Chief Program Officer, joining our global team at a pivotal moment for increased scale and deepening partnerships. Robert is a Nairobi-based technology leader with over 20 years experience in the ICT industry and a strong advocate for societal transformation through technology. He brings to Medic his record of success in policy development, delivery of key transformational programs, service designs, strong tech financial and investment planning/analysis, and proven process governance & partner management experience.
As a focused team player successful in building collaborative teams & adaptive skills development, Robert will lead Medic’s largest and most diverse team – responsible for partnering with leading community health implementers and Ministries of Health in Africa and Asia and providing them with world-class and purpose-built digital tools.

Recognized for leading ‘award winning’ service improvement programs, effective business change management, and successfully influencing key vendor, partners, government and regulatory negotiations, Robert brings a wealth of experience through various leadership positions spanning Strategy Development, Information Technology Management, Engineering, and Operations at Safaricom PLC- Kenya, Siemens, and Kencell Communications Ltd. In his most recent position as Head of Strategy and Governance, he led delivery of key transformational programs including new technologies strategy formulation, the digital transformation program, product development, and infrastructure build for local and regional markets. He also played a lead role in the establishment of strategic partnerships, set up of the Digital Talent Academy and a Data-centric Service Assurance program.
Robert currently serves as a Board member of Kenya National Innovation Agency and has previously been a council member of Meru University of Science and Technology- Kenya. He holds a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) and a Bachelor of science in Electrical & Electronics degree from Jomo Kenyatta University- Kenya. He has further attained certification in Technology Excellence from Imperial College London Business School and an Advanced Management program certificate from the Strathmore Business School in conjunction with IESE- Barcelona, Spain university.
He is a member of the Institute of Directors- Kenya (IOD), and Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK). He is also an enthusiast of environmental conservation and a member of Tech for Conservation – WildLabs community. He enjoys spending his leisure time interacting with nature.
